I agree.
Why in the world would anyone volunteer to have their mouth sawn out of their face, rearranged, and put back in?
Worst horror flick ever.
Here's my reasons why:
1. Severe Sleep Apnea, gotten worse over my lifetime.

| Tired teenager. Always a mouth breather at night. Not a snorer so no one suspected a problem. |
2. High blood pressure, diabetes, weight gain, all due to terrible sleep.
3. Choking on food.
4. Not breathing properly through nose.
When I was 19 and got my first set of braces to fix my gap-toothed smile, the orthodontist said I needed jaw surgery, and I laughed. He didn't explain more, and I thought he was joking. I was a broke college student with no health insurance and no money for frivolous things like jaw surgery. It didn't occur to me to ask questions. This was regular life before the internet. No one knew anything, and the general assumption was everything was a scam. Cue getting braces to cosmetically fix my smile, while my actual problem remained unfixed for another 36 years.

| I saved up $ to pay for braces. My tooth gap killed many superficial high school romances. |
----------------------
I am a weirdo (there are more and more of us being identified, yay!) who is both anxious and excited to have my upper and lower jaws rearranged so I can have the joy of breathing day and night like a proper human being.
